Mariana Sanchez Hernandez

Mariana Sanchez Hernandez, Yale School of Drama

Mariana is a set designer with a background in architecture, based in New York. She was drawn to set design because of her interest in experimenting with how emotions impact and transform space and because of her love for theater, for interpreting and trying to understand the world.

Her set design credits include: War (Yale Repertory Theater), Peter Pan (Yale University Theater), As You Like It (Yale University Theater), Quartet, The Bird BathAll of What You Love and None of What You Hate (Yale Cabaret), Cenizas de Piedra (Teatro la Paz). Mariana, who is originally from Mexico, worked as an architect in Mexico City for six years before moving to the U.S.

Mariana earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the National University of Mexico (UNAM). She has been a recipient of the Ray Klausen Design Scholarship, the McDougal Scholarship, and the FONCA Artistic Residency Scholarship.
